Business Mission to Congo (Brazzaville)

22.03.2010 to 26.03.2010

Die Afrika-Verein Business Development GmbH lädt vom 22. – 26.

Information on the "Libya Infrastructure 2010" exibition

TRADE MISSION GHANA/COTE d'IVOIRE

June/July

Next Trade Missions organised by NABC

Trade mission water technology to Algeria – April 24-29, 2010

Algeria and the Netherlands celebrate the 400th anniversary of the relations between our countries and this mission wants to play a role in this by bringing one of most the prominent Dutch sectors under the attention in Algeria.
From 2010-2014, the Algerian government will invest almost 20 billion USD in the water sector. In previous years a lot of investment in this sector has already taken place and water is clearly a political top priority. The mission caters for exporters of goods and services in the field of water technology and water management, including water purification, irrigation, etc. Besides the capital Algiers and its surroundings, the city of Oran will be visited. Other locations will be visited if this is possible and functional. On April 29th, the mission will be closed during the Queens Day reception at the Dutch embassy. On the 30th of April you will be back in the Netherlands to celebrate Queens Day one more time!
This mission is organized with the support of the Netherlands water Partnership NWP, relevant business organisations in Algeria as well as the Dutch and Algerian government. Especially the Dutch embassy in Algiers is an important partner on the spot. There is a number of Algerian government organisations that deal specifically with water management, among which the Ministry of Water Resources. During the mission the participants will be able to contact the right persons within the relevant government bodies. On top of that, NABC will ensure relevant contacts with commercial parties. Participants will get a thorough general picture of business possibilities in Algeria by means of several in depth briefings and a rich programme with several company visits. Participation to the mission is open for all Dutch companies. Participation costs amount to € 500 (excl. VAT). Costs of travel and accommodation are to be paid by the participants themselves.
The preliminary programme and more information on the water sector in Algeria can be downloaded below.
Please register as soon as possible (first come, first serve with a maximum of 15 participants; we will have more time to prepare tailor made appointments for you if you register early), but at any rate before March 1, 2010.

April 28 - May 2, 2010:
Holland Pavilion, International Agricultural Trade Fair in Meknes, Morocco (SIAM)

This collective Trade Fair participation is organized by the Trade and Investment Centre (HIC) Morocco.

The activity is financed by the EVD under the program Collective Promotional Activities (CPA). Every participant has the opportunity to promote their products and services at relatively low cost through a personal stand at the international fair. Participation in the SIAM Trade Fair is an excellent opportunity to expand your network and meet new (potential) customers and business partners. A trade fair can be an outburst of communication and promotional activities in which an individual company can lose its significance. The organized Holland Pavilion offers a powerful concept through which the participants can take advantage of the Holland brand.

                        Agribusiness Trade Mission to Angola – May 30 - June 5,  2010

The Netherlands African Business Council (NABC) is organizing an agribusiness trade mission to Angola for the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV). The mission will take place in the first half of the year 2010. The programme focuses on companies in the agriculture. Also will there be sufficient activities for companies in the meat and fish processing industry and a separate programme for companies in the area of water management and irrigation.

A trade mission to Angola in agribusiness, with a focus on the export of goods and services in the primary sector. A top priority during the mission as well will be knowledge transfer concerning agriculture techniques, service and maintenance of machines. All of this is necessary for the enormous agrarian development potential in Angola. The mission aims at the agrarian sector as a whole since NABC and its subcontractors (International Business and Cooperation (EVD), The Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV), Ministry of Economy (EZ), Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR) and the Dutch Embassy in Angola ) believe that there are abundant possibilities concerning the whole sector for Dutch businesses. NABC foresees for a long time great chances for the agrarian sector in Angola.

General introduction Angola
Angola is one of the most fertile countries in the world, with a excellent land composition, sufficient water and a favorable climate for cultivating all kinds of plants and breeding cattle. Once Angola was known as the largest coffee producer of Africa, in the world only outdistanced by Brazil. Furthermore manioc, rise and soya were cultivated, and fishery was an important source of income along the coast. Angola has a large agrarian potential thanks to its natural position.
Unfortunately the primary sector has been seriously damaged, just like a lot of other sectors during the civil war. For agriculture this applies in a even higher degree, because the civil war was particularly battled out on the country side. In 2002, an end came to the civil war. Now that the political rest has returned in Angola, the rebuilding of the agrarian sector is the highest priority for the Angolan government.

                                                                       Opportunities in the agricultural sector

    • The government of Angola has taken several measures to create an attractive climate for investment. No profit taxes are levied and there exist exemption of import levies.
    • Furthermore the Angolan government is investing in the country’s infrastructure, by improving the hinterlands to make them contactable and raise production in agriculture.
    • In 2008, the Angolan government invested 2 billion dollar to insufflate the Benguela Railway. Before the war outbreak this rail net linked Angola with the hinterland and was the centre in the success of the Angolan agro-industry. For this reason the convalescence activities are very important for developing the agriculture sector.
    • Angola has respectively appealed from the Dutch government for the transfer of knowledge and technology in agriculture, fishery and livestock-farming, because the Netherlands is worldwide considered as a head cursor in this area.
    • Angola clamors for transfer of knowledge and technology.
    • There are many opportunities of cultivating fruit such as melons, paprika’s, tomatoes, apples and avocados in the south of Angola. These fruits are being locally consumed, but in processed form, for example juices or sauces, suitable for export.
    • The internal market for meat offers prospects for increase and substitution of import. Currently meat is imported frozen from Brazil or the EU, but the local market for meat products still lies open.

Angola is worldwide seen as an interesting investment destination, what can be especially explained by oil finds and matching spin-off. The Netherlands on the other hand has acquired a good reputation in Angola and is considered as a reliable trade partner.
A mission like this is a perfect first familiarization with the country and (business) culture. Moreover it is excellent for the Dutch entrepreneurs to get a feeling with the country, and to make an accurate estimation of market chances for their companies.
The previous mission has made clear that, middle and small companies can do excellent business in Angola and that participation to a trade mission pre-eminently for the middle and small companies is both suitable as effective.
